Jessie R. Novaro, a retired seamstress with the old Van Raalte Silk Mill in Dunkirk, died Sunday (Nov. 21, 1997) in the Chautauqua County Home after a long illness. She was 91.
Born in Fredonia, the former Jessie Notaro was the widow of Jack Novaro, whom she married in 1949.
Mrs. Novaro, who lived on Liberty Street, worked for the knitting mill until it closed in the 1980s.
She was a member of the St. Lucy Society of St. Anthony's Church and was active with the Share and Care Center.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Orchard and Cushing Streets, Fredonia. Prayers will be said at 9 in Fantauzzi Funeral Home, 82 E. Main St., Fredonia. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
