HERBERT L. MICHEL, WORLD WAR I VETERAN

Herbert L. Michel, a longtime mechanic and a veteran of World War I, died Saturday, (Dec. 20, 1997) in Harper House, Summerville, Pa. He was 93.

Michel, of Hawthorn, Pa., was born in Arlington, Va. He joined the Army at the age of 14 and fought during World War I.

He and the former Elizabeth G. Broadley, who died in 1987, had been married 58 years.

Michel worked for many years as a mechanic for a Cadillac garage in Lewiston and was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Lewiston.

Survivors include two sons, Charles H. of Ransomville and the Rev. Gerald W. of Hawthorn; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services were held Monday. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery.
