A teen-ager was arrested after she left two infants alone in an apartment while she went out partying police said.
Firefighters and police found the children early Sunday after an unidentified caller reported smoke coming from 18-year-old Shameeca Legrand's Harlem apartment, said Police Officer Theresa Farello.
The 1-year-old girl and 2-year-old boy were home alone, and food was smoldering on the stove, Officer Farello said.
Police said Ms. Legrand had left her month-old daughter with a neighbor Saturday night but had left her son and his little sister alone in her apartment.
When she returned later Sunday morning and found the children gone, she scooped up her month-old child and went to the 28th Precinct station house to report the other children missing, Officer Farello said.
Ms. Legrand was charged with three counts of child endangerment. The children were placed with child-welfare workers.
