A Queens man suspected of killing his wife and critically injuring her friend has been found hanged in a friend's basement.
Police said Gerald Laureus, 38, shot his wife, Nancy, 35, twice in the head at their home in the Cambria Heights section at about 6:15 p.m. Sunday. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Laureus then allegedly shot his wife's friend, Sara Stenson, 29, in the abdomen. Ms. Stenson, a health-care worker, was listed in critical condition in Jamaica Hospital Medical Center.
Laureus then went to spend the night at a friend's house, and the unidentified friend found his body hanging from a pipe in the basement at 8 a.m. today, police said.
It was not immediately known if the Laureuses were separated or if they had any children.
