For daredevil Evel Knievel, a guy who spent his life flying through the air on a motorcycle, you'd think golf would be a relatively safe pastime.
But a fall on a golf course about three weeks ago -- compounded by years of bone-crushing falls from his motorcycle -- sent Knievel to the hospital for hip replacement surgery.
Knievel has broken at least 35 bones and undergone surgery 14 times in his stunt career, so a hospital bed is familiar territory.
"The doctors said they had never seen a worse hip in their lives," Knievel said Saturday. "They tell me I won't be able to walk for four months. I'll cut that in half, though."
The 59-year-old daredevil retired in 1981.
