Bids to build Wyoming County's new $4.5 million courthouse probably will be sought early next month and contracts awarded by February, said Supervisor A. Douglas Berwanger, R-Arcade, chairman of the Board of Supervisors Court Committee.
"We think that the plans by the architects, SWBR Associates of Rochester, are just about complete," Berwanger said.
The new courthouse will be built between the current court building, which dates back to the Depression, and the 4-year-old jail.
Besides courtrooms, it will contain offices for the district attorney and the Probation Department, space for attorney-client meetings and a jury room.
The construction will begin as soon as possible and could be completed within nine months to a year, Berwanger said, quoting the county's construction consultant.
