The Rev. Henri Paul Chiasson, 65, of Shippegan, New Brunswick, a member of the Eudist Fathers and former principal of Cardinal Dougherty High School here, died Dec. 12, 1997, in Lameque, New Brunswick, after a brief illness.
Father Chiasson was born in Bathurst, New Brunswick, where he took his secondary and philosophy studies at Sacred Heart College. He completed his theological studies in 1960 at the Congregation of Jesus and Mary Seminary, Charlesbourg, Quebec. He was ordained at the Grand Seminaire in Quebec City in 1960.
In 1961, he completed his studies at Gregorian University in Rome. From 1961 through 1978, he served as dean of discipline and then principal of Cardinal Dougherty High School. From 1978 to 1993, he worked for the Lafayette Diocese in Louisiana. He returned to New Brunswick in 1993.
Survivors include two sisters, Lisette Bellanger and Rejeane Noel of France, and two brothers, Hedor of St. Marie, Quebec, and Lucius of Toronto.
A memorial Mass will be offered at 7 p.m. Jan. 14 in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 60 Hertel Ave.
