Former heavyweight boxing champion Tommy Morrison faces six months in jail after he was convicted Saturday in Jay, Okla., of driving under the influence and two related charges.
A Delaware County jury deliberated for about four hours in an unusual weekend session before convicting Morrison of driving under the influence, carrying a firearm while under the influence of liquor and unlawful transportation of an opened container of alcoholic beverage.
The jury acquitted Morrison of following too closely.
The charges came after a chain-reaction traffic accident that injured three people in August.
The jury recommended a six-month sentence and $500 fine on the DUI charge and $500 fines on each of the other two charges. Sentencing is set for Jan. 6.
Morrison also faces civil suits in the accident that injured Karl Shklar, Lora Lee Scroggins and her 12-year-old daughter, Pamela Scroggins.
In the ring at Reseda, Calif., former champion Tracy Harris Patterson (60-5-1) stopped Manuel Chavez-Tellez (21-7) in the eighth round of their scheduled 10-round super featherweight bout.
