MAN CHARGED WITH PASSING FAKE BILL

A Buffalo man was charged Saturday with passing a counterfeit $20 bill at a Broadway service station and possessing a purse that had been stolen in Niagara County.

Rube Lee, 44, of Howlett Street was arrested by Broadway Station Officers Kathleen Martin Appleford and Noreen Walsh at 3:43 a.m. at the NOCO station in the 1300 block of Broadway, police said.

When searching Lee's car, they found the pocketbook. They also found a second fake $20 bill in his pants pocket, authorities said.

He was charged with possession of a forged instrument and stolen property.
