The 23-year-old woman convicted of trying to extort $40 million from Bill Cosby is pregnant, according to court documents.
Autumn Jackson was sentenced this month to 26 months in prison for threatening to tell tabloids she was the comedian's illegitimate daughter unless he gave her the money.
Ms. Jackson's lawyer, Robert Baum, is seeking to keep her out on bail pending an appeal of her conviction. He cited her pregnancy in documents filed Friday with a New York appeals court.
When U.S. District Court Judge Barbara Jones sentenced Ms. Jackson, she left open the possibility of reducing the sentence to home confinement if Ms. Jackson completed a tough, boot camp-style rehabilitation program. She is to surrender to prison authorities on Jan. 22.
The pregnancy announcement comes two months after Ms. Jackson married her longtime boyfriend, Antonay Williams. He pleaded guilty to playing a minor role in the scheme against Cosby.
