The makeup of the 19-member board of directors for Genesee Mercy Healthcare, the merged entity of the city's two community hospitals, has been completed and was announced Friday.
Paul J. Battaglia, an accountant, will head the board composed largely of members of the former St. Jerome and Genesee Memorial hospitals' governing bodies.
Other members are: John F. Andrews, Sister Janet Bielmann, Dr. Lorne Campbell, Dr. Magdi Credi, Sister Carol Ellis, Sister Anne Marie Fitzsimmons, James W. Fulmer, Lynn Houseknecht, Douglas T. Jones, Dr. Maidul I. Khan, Betty Lapp, Glenn R. Morton, Linda Sce, Charles W. Smith, Robert V. Stanek, Stuart Steiner, Gary Stitch and Craig Yunker.
The final asset merger, which went unchallenged by the Federal Trade Commission, which reviews potential antitrust issues, is expected to be completed next year. Several departments already are working together at either the Bank or North Street campus, the sites of the present hospitals.
Battaglia said the successful FTC review, which also reviewed the merger's impact on competition, gave the hospitals the opportunity to begin functioning as a merged entity.
