Jacob Lapp is not a hero -- not my hero anyway. A hero is someone who does more than his share -- not less. A hero's principles and actions benefit others -- not himself. Lately, too many people seem to be grabbing the moral high ground to justify their actions and exempt them from the laws of society.
I don't believe Mr. Lapp is evil -- just willful, arrogant and self-absorbed. His fights with Chautauqua County and the federal government are not acts of heroism or patriotism, but rather acts of egoism and self-interest.
