DISTRICT UTILITY FEE HIKES APPROVED

The Board of Public Utilities has approved rate increases for district heating and sanitation fees in order to help make up an additional $400,000 payment in lieu of taxes to the City of Jamestown.

BPU General Manager James Gronquist said district heating rates still will be competitive with natural gas heat. Small district heat customers will see a 90-cent per-unit rate hike, while larger customers costs will rise by $1.30. Sanitation rates will go up by 50 cents per month.
