G. Thomas Martin, 59, formerly of Lewiston, an associate professor of life sciences at Niagara County Community College for 20 years, died Tuesday (Oct. 28, 1997) at his home in Athens, Ga.

He was born in Chattanooga, Tenn., was a graduate of the University of Tennessee and earned two master's degrees from the University of Georgia.

Martin also worked at the University of Georgia.

He was a member of Unitarian Universalist Church of Niagara Falls and served as board president in the 1970s. He also served on the Love Canal Task Force and the Town of Lewiston Environmental Board.

Survivors include his wife, the former Elizabeth Bishop, and three daughters, Amy M. of Atlanta, Lisa D. of New York City and Sarah A. of Buffalo.

Services will be held at 5:30 p.m. Sunday in Unitarian Universalist Church, 639 Main St., Niagara Falls. Burial will be in Smoky Mountain National Park, Georgia.
