A former Jamestown resident accused of welfare fraud has been arrested in Erie, Pa., authorities announced Wednesday.
Eugene R. Taft, 45, was charged with grand larceny in connection with the theft of $1,023 in welfare benefits. Taft waived extradition and was arraigned in Jamestown City Court.
Jamestown police also had a warrant charging Taft with 21 counts of issuing a bad check.
He was sent to the Chautauqua County Jail in lieu of $5,500 bail, pending another court appearance scheduled for Dec. 17.
