A vacant house on Brayton Street, the source of complaints from neighbors, was slated for emergency demolition today after someone set it on fire, officials said.
Two alarms were needed to extinguish the blaze at 114 Brayton, discovered shortly before 2 a.m. today. The fire started in a rear stairwell and was the work of an arsonist, according to Lt. William Dill, head of the Fire Investigation Bureau.
Damage was estimated at $50,000.
A neighbor said she and others have made numerous complaints to City Hall concerning the house, but nothing was done. The house appeared to be a candidate for rehabilitation, the woman said.
