The Newstead Planning Board has granted site-plan approval for construction of a nursery sales building located on Route 5 just east of
11478 Main Road.

The board considered a new detailed site plan for the project proposed by John Smith. Board members reviewed details such as an access road to the back portion of the parcel and parking spaces for the handicapped.

Planners recommended the building be moved 15 feet west, creating a 15-foot buffer between the facility and hedge for the road, and indicated another site plan does not have to be submitted to the Planning Board.

On another matter, Mike Whiting and Dean Puttney presented the board a storm water management report for the proposed addition to Whiting Roll Up Door on Cedar Street, Akron.

Planners noted that a recent flow test requested by the Akron Fire Company showed "very good results." The board recommended allowing construction to begin once the county approves. Code Enforcement Officer Donnal D. Folger said the company does not need approval to begin demolition work on the parking lot area.
