Three bathroom fires set at Erie Community College's North Campus, 6205 Main St., in the past two days have disrupted classes and caused $6,500 in damage, police and fire officials said

The fires were reported at 12:17 p.m. and 12:27 p.m. on Tuesday and 8:48 a.m. on Wednesday, Amherst police said.

Amherst police and the Main-Transit Fire Department responded to the fire calls.

The fires caused approximately $3,200 in smoke and equipment damage to two bathrooms Tuesday, Assistant Fire Chief James C. Lawida said.

Wednesday morning, a fire in a men's bathroom in Kittenger Hall caused $3,300 in damage and forced the evacuation of the two-story classroom facility for about an hour, Lawida said.

Amherst Police Assistant Chief Frank Olesko said an investigation is continuing.
