Children making the rounds of their Buffalo neighborhoods Friday for Halloween tricks or treats should do so between the hours of 6 and 8 p.m., city officials said Wednesday.
Mayor Masiello and Police Commissioner R. Gil Kerlikowske also offered the following safety tips:
Households offering treats for youngsters should keep exterior lights on to express their intentions and to help with children's safety.
Children should be accompanied by an adult, and carry a flashlight or light stick for illumination.
Costumes should be bright in color or reflective for better visibility when crossing streets.
Suspicious treats should be brought to the nearest police station, where a special hot line is available to investigate candy that may be suspect.
