The North Tonawanda Track Booster Club will conduct its first annual Fall Frolic Five Kilometer Run/Walk on Saturday at 10 a.m. starting and ending at North Tonawanda High School.
The school district's interscholastic sports budget was voted down by residents earlier this year, leaving sports teams without funding for athletic programs.
All proceeds raised at Saturday's event will be used to fund the district's track and field program.
The event is open to runners and walkers of all ages and abilities. Awards will be given to the top competitors in various age categories from 14 and under to 70 and over.
A post race party will feature music, food and door prizes, said Jeanne L.
Chiarmonte, race director.
