TEEN'S DEATH AT HANGOUT STILL BEING PROBED

An accident at a South Buffalo hangout that claimed the life of a teen-ager remains
under investigation by police.

Brian J. Krug, 18, of Amber Street died late Saturday in Erie County Medical Center, a little more than 24 hours after suffering a head injury in the parking lot behind the Tosh Collins Center on Cazenovia Street.

Officer Michael Patanella of the Accident Investigation Unit said Krug was leaning on the hood of a car, talking to a young woman in the passenger seat, when the car started moving. Krug fell and hit his head on the ground, the officer said.

The accident occurred shortly after 11 p.m. Friday, and Krug, who had been removed from life support, was pronounced dead just before
midnight Saturday.

The car was driven by James Carpino, 19, of Leddy Street, Patanella said. No charges have been filed.

Dozens of youths were hanging out in the parking lot, the officer said, and alcohol was being consumed. Police said the site is a known hangout for youths.
