Louis A. Del Cotto, professor emeritus at the University at Buffalo Law School, will receive the school's highest honor -- the 1997 Edwin F. Jaeckle Award -- following the 22nd annual Law School Alumni Convocation Nov. 8 in the Hyatt Regency Buffalo.
One of the nation's leading experts on tax law, Del Cotto is a 1951 graduate of the UB Law School and holds a master's degree in law from Columbia University.
He practiced for a decade and became a partner with the firm of Jaeckle, Fleischmann, Kelly, Swart and Augspurger -- now Jaeckle, Fleischmann and Mugel -- before joining the UB law faculty in 1961.
The convocation program, which runs from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Hyatt, will consider recent developments in tax law, matrimonial procedures, supplemental needs trusts and jury selection.
Among the speakers will be State Supreme Court Justices Barbara Howe and Nelson H. Cosgrove.
