A Thai woman has accused a doctor of using unusual means to quiet her during childbirth -- several punches to the face.

Police said Tuesday that Boonthong Yothica, 28, charged that on Sunday her doctor punched her in the face to stop her from screaming while she was in labor, said police in Sisaket province, about 300 miles northeast of Bangkok.

Police said that they would arrest the doctor, who faces one month in jail or a 2,000-baht ($51) fine if convicted of the charges.
