Minnie Porter, 99, of Buffalo, the oldest member of First Shiloh Baptist Church, died Friday (Oct. 24, 1997) in Deaconess Skilled Nursing Facility, where she had been a resident for six years.
Born Minnie Lust in Grenada, Miss., she moved to Buffalo in 1919. She had been a member of First Shiloh Baptist Church for 78 years.
Active in the church, she was a member of the Willing Workers Club, the Missionary Department, the Sunshine Benevolent Circle and the Echols Progressive Club.
Her husband, William, died in 1992.
Surviving are a son, Oscar Rounds; two daughters, Marguerite Buckner and Marion Meadows; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in First Shiloh Baptist Church, 15 Pine St. Burial will be in Forest Lawn.
