Cora Smith, 69, of Fairfield Avenue, a retired cook, died Sunday (Oct. 26, 1997) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, after a long illness.
A native of Vicksburg, Miss., the former Cora Valentine moved to Niagara Falls in 1952.
Mrs. Smith retired in 1981 after working for 25 years as a cook at the Round the Clock restaurant.
She served on the Usher Board at Mount Sinai Baptist Church, and she enjoyed cooking and gardening.
Her husband, Josh, died in 1990.
Survivors include seven sons, Herman Valentine of New Orleans, Josh Smith Jr. of Buffalo, Henry Smith of Atlanta, Herbert Smith of Martinez, Ga., Annize Valentine, Robert Smith and Peter Smith; two daughters, Sadie Smith of Buffalo and Clara Stewart; her mother, Naomi Valentine of Vicksburg; six sisters, Naomi Patterson and Theresa Bailey, both of San Diego, and Mary Gray, Martha Webster, Eugene Foster and Katherine Brooks, all of Vicksburg; two brothers, Henry Valentine Jr. of Buffalo and Ross Valentine of Vicksburg; 38 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Mount Sinai Baptist Church, 1750 Tennessee Ave. Burial will be in Acacia Park Cemetery, Pendleton.
