TEEN 'CRITICAL' AFTER CRASH KILLS SON

A Buffalo teen-ager remained in critical condition Saturday in Erie County Medical Center after a car accident early Friday that killed her 14-month-old son.

Haneefah Fields, 19, suffered leg and internal injuries in the accident. Her son, Jaymon Beathlee, was thrown from her arms shortly before 7 a.m. as she walked across the intersection of Grider Street and East Delavan Avenue after leaving their home on the 700 block of Delavan.

Miss Fields was on her way to drop off Jaymon at a baby sitter before she headed off to Buffalo State College, where she is a student.

"It's not right. She's a good, hard-working girl who was trying to make a decent life for herself," said Juanita Fields, her mother.

Patrice Hennings, 43, of Cornwall Avenue, the driver of the car involved in the accident, told police she never saw the infant or his mother until she struck them.
