Stephen J. "Willis" Wieloszynski, a local musician, died unexpectedly Friday (Oct. 24, 1997) in his home. He was 48.
Formerly of Brant, he was a resident of Lakewood.
Wieloszynski was born in Niagara Falls.
He was a graduate of the Eastman School of Music, where he received a master's degree in music theory and a master's degree in music composition. He also worked as a teaching fellow at the school.
He taught music theory at Fredonia State College and retired after 22 years as department chairman from the Lake Shore Central School system in Angola.
Wieloszynski was a music arranger and publisher with Kendor Music since 1972 and was New York State Music Association Jazz Ensemble chairman from 1984 to 1986. He was a member of Locals 106 and 92, American Federation of Musicians.
Survivors include his wife, the former Patricia J. Civilette; three sons, Jay of Hamburg, Daniel of Teaneck, N.J., and Michael of Fredonia; a sister, Joan Smutko of Lewiston; and two grandchildren.
Prayers will be said at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday in Heimburg-Addison Funeral Home, 262 N. Main St., Angola. A Mass of Christian Burial will offered at 10 in St. Anthony's Church, 417 Commercial St., Farnham. Interment will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Farnham.
