Richard A. Albano, 67, of Chestnut Street, a retired pharmacist, died unexpectedly Thursday (Oct. 23, 1997) in Western Baptist Hospital, Paducah, Ky.
His family had owned Park Pharmacy on West Main Street for 75 years before it closed in 1991. Albano was pharmacist there from 1961 to 1991. He then was employed by Brooks Drugs in Dunkirk until he retired in 1995.
Albano graduated from Fredonia High School, attended St. Bonaventure University and graduated in 1960 from Butler University School of Pharmacy in Indianapolis.
He served with the Air Force in Germany during the Korean War.
He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church.
Albano played trumpet and was a member of the Cassadaga Community Band and the Westfield Deutschmeisters Band. He was a member of the Chautauqua County Chapter of the Society for the Preservation & Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America.
He was a member of Fredonia Post 59, America Legion; the Fredonia Beaver Club; Dunkirk Lodge 89, Loyal Order of Moose; and the New York State Pharmacists Association.
Survivors include his wife, the former Sandy Jackson; two sons, Brian of Franklin, Tenn., and Richard R.; two daughters, Laurie Militello and Melissa; a sister, Betty Schoof of Amherst; and a grandson.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered today in St. Anthony's Church. Burial was in St. Anthony's Cemetery.
