REV. MARGARET W. HARVEY

The Rev. Margaret W. Harvey, 89, a member of St. John Baptist Church for 50 years, died Saturday (Oct. 25, 1997) in Deaconess Center.

Born in Ocala, Fla., the former Margaret Wise came to Buffalo in 1933, was a caterer for many years and worked as the cook for former Episcopal Bishop Lauriston L. Scaife.

Mrs. Harvey joined St. John Baptist Church in 1947 and was ordained in the 1970s by the Rev. Dr. Bennett W. Smith Sr. Until her health failed, she was active in the church's Sunday school, Nurses Guild and Missionary Society.

She was the widow of James L. Copeland and Franklin J. Harvey.

Survivors include a daughter, Ruthie M. Edwards; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. John Baptist Church, 184 Goodell St. Burial will be in St. Matthew's Cemetery, West Seneca.
