Buffalo detectives today continued their search for clues on how a baby suffered burns over much of his body, authorities said.
Twenty-month-old Joseph Hooper of 2000 Bailey Ave. was listed in stable condition, according to Children's Hospital officials.
"We've taken statements from witnesses and we are going to talk with the medical professionals and examine other evidence," Lt. David Mann of the Sex Offense Squad said of the continuing investigation.
The boy suffered third-degree burns and bruises and cuts to the head, according to a police report.
Trudy M. Hooper, the child's mother, said she left her son with a man she knows Thursday evening while she went out with her father.
The mother said she looked in on him upon her return Thursday night, but she did not notice her son's injuries until Friday, when she checked on him again.
