Applications for the state's new school tax-relief program for senior citizens are available in Newstead Town Hall, town Assessor Fred J. Pask said.
The program's first year offers property owners 65 years old with incomes that do not exceed $60,000 exemptions on their school taxes next fall. Other primary-residence homeowners will be eligible the following year, said Pask.
A completed application should be submitted before June 1, 1998, Pask said. Proof of primary residence, age, and all income, including Social
Security, is needed, he added.
