LUCY B. MENGEE, OPERATED DELICATESSEN IN FALLS

Lucy B. Mengee, 88, the owner and operator of the former Lucy's Delicatessen in Niagara Falls, died Saturday (Oct. 25, 1997) in Newfane Inter-Community Memorial Hospital after a long illness.

Mrs. Mengee, who lived in Niagara Falls for 60 years, moved to Ransomville in 1988 and had lived in the Newfane Health Facility, a Transit Road nursing home, since June 1990.

The former Lucy Baker was born in Brookfield, Pa., where she attended school.

She ran the deli at 13th Street and Linwood Avenue for 18 years, retiring in 1979. Before opening her own business, she worked at the former Crausman's Department Store and at General Abrasives, both in Niagara Falls.

Survivors include a daughter, Helen Miller of Ransomville, and three granddaughters.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. James United Methodist Church, 4661 Porter Road, Niagara Falls. Burial will be in North Ridge Cemetery, Cambria.
