FIREFIGHTING ALOFT

Firefighters pour water on the former Our Lady of Perpetual Help School on Alabama Street. The three-alarm blaze, reported at about 3 a.m. today, extensively damaged the vacant building. No injuries were reported, fire officials said. The building was used as a school until the late 1960s, then as a senior citizen center until six years ago. Story on B5.
