Council Member at Large Rosemarie LoTempio is inviting senior citizens to view a new bus that will ferry them to recreational sites around the city.
A dedication ceremony for the new bus is set for 11 a.m. next Monday in Autumnwood Senior Center, 1800 Clinton St.
Two years ago, Mrs. LoTempio initiated a drive to secure $60,000 in block-grant funds to buy the new handicapped-accessible, 28-passenger bus for senior citizens in Buffalo. She responded after hearing consistent complaints from senior citizens about the lack of available transportation for those who frequent the city's community centers but do not drive.
"It has taken longer than I anticipated to complete, but I knew with the help of my colleagues we would find the funding to purchase the bus. It will be an asset for our seniors throughout the city," Mrs. LoTempio said.
