A Batavia man was injured at 3:26 a.m. Saturday when his car struck a utility pole in front of 357 High St., Officer Steven Kuntzman said.
Timothy N. Fanning, 37, of 85 Main St. was admitted to Lockport Memorial Hospital's intensive care unit with head and neck injuries he suffered in the accident, a hospital official said. He was listed in stable condition late Saturday, the official said.
Fanning was charged with driving while intoxicated, failure to keep right, a seat belt violation and driving an uninspected motor vehicle by Kuntzman and Officer Dennis Sobieroski.
The accident occurred when he drove his car across the center lane on High Street, jumped a curb and crashed into the Bell Atlantic pole, Kuntzman said.
