FIRM MANAGER INDICTED IN THEFTS

A Mayville man is accused of stealing thousands of dollars from the business that he managed over a period of several years.

Martin D. Matthews, 58, of 4 Maple Drive East was indicted by a Chautauqua County grand jury on charges of second-degree grand larceny and first-degree falsifying business records.

Sheriff's officers said Matthews was the manager of Fire Equipment Sales and Service in Westfield for about 10 years. During their investigation, officers found that Matthews had systematically paid personal expenses with company funds over several years, totaling several thousand dollars.

Matthews was arrested at his home Thursday and sent to Chautauqua County Jail with bail to be set later.
