A funeral service for Charles Anna, a retired postal clerk, will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in James E. Grace Funeral Home, 335 Ontario St.
Anna, a Kenmore resident, died Friday (Oct. 24, 1997) in Kenmore Mercy Hospital after a brief illness. He was 77.
Anna was born in Buffalo. He served six year in the U.S. Navy and was stationed in the Pacific during World War II. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans.
Anna married the former Esther Mallwitz on Jan. 21, 1945. Two years ago, the couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with family and friends at Riverside Baptist Church.
Anna retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 27 years. He enjoyed bowling and traveling, stamp collecting and spending time with his family and friends.
He was an active member Riverside Baptist Church and was a former member of Attica Baptist Church in Attica.
Burial will be in be in White Chapel Memorial Cemetery, Town of Tonawanda.
In addition to his wife, Anna is survived by two sons, Charles and Michael, both of Syracuse; three daughters, Linda Ball of the Village of Alexander, Bonnie Hewitt of Elma and Cindy Dudek of Darien; and 10 grandchildren.
