WHY DO SUPERINTENDENTS NEED SO MANY PERKS?

Though I am not one to criticize public school education and educators, the Oct. 19 News article was a truly revealing bit of information on the perks local public school superintendents receive.

Without passing judgment on the correctness of most of these perks, the automobile allowances are truly bizarre. "$5,000 per year to defray local business-related driving expenses." What is that superintendent doing? Delivering pizzas?
