Florence A. Gurz, 76, a retired Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center cook and a World War II veteran, died Wednesday (Oct. 22, 1997) in her home on Lincoln Avenue, North Tonawanda, after a brief illness.
A native of Niagara Falls, the former Florence Holody served as an Army technician from 1944 to 1946.
Mrs. Gurz retired in 1986 and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a member of the Polish National Alliance
Her husband, Walter G. "Pat" Gurz, died in 1961.
Surviving are a son, Patrick Gurz of Broomfield, Colo.; three daughters, Judith Ann Collard of Williamsburg, Va., Cheryl A. Ostheimer of Newark, Del., and Deborah Brick of North Tonawanda; a sister, Bertha McConnell; and nine grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church, 22nd and Niagara streets. Prayers beforehand will begin at 9 in the Zajac Funeral Home, 319 24th St. Burial will be private.
