AKRON CENTRAL VOTERS TO DECIDE VEHICLE PURCHASE

Akron Central School District residents will vote at a special meeting Dec. 17 on the purchase of five replacement vehicles for the district's fleet at a maximum cost of $303,000.

The new vehicles -- three 66-passenger buses, one wheelchair van and one 22-passenger van are needed to replace aging buses. The board appointed Janice Rosenberg chairwoman for the vote and Loraine Loewen clerk. Voting will be from 6 to 8 p.m. in the high school cafeteria.

In other business this week, the board was told that the district's new adult education program is successful and 11 additional courses have been added.
