Hazel F. Young, 87, of Shrewsbury, Mass., a former Buffalo-area piano teacher, died Saturday (Oct. 18, 1997) of injuries suffered in an auto accident in Shrewsbury.
Born Hazel Foit in Buffalo, she was a graduate of Bennett High School and Columbia Teachers College. She was a piano teacher for more than 50 years.
A resident of Snyder for 55 years, she moved to Shrewsbury in 1993. She was a past president and longtime board member of the Buffalo Piano Teachers Forum. She was a past president and honorary life member of the Chromatic Club. She also was a member of Sigma Alpha Iota sorority.
Her husband, W. Wallace, died in 1971.
Surviving are two daughters, Dr. Lynda Young Sorrenti of Worcester, Mass., and Maryann Palmer of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; a brother, Dr. Norman Foit of Kenmore; and five grandchildren.
A funeral Mass was offered Tuesday in Worcester. Burial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Acacia Park Cemetery Chapel, Pendleton.
