A question about a preferred site for a new municipal airport went unresolved Monday night after 10 members of a 16-member county-appointed committee failed to attend a meeting to vote on recommending a site.
Earlier this month, seven members of Cattaraugus County's Municipal Airport Advisory Committee voted to recommend that the Legislature take a closer look at a hilltop site in Little Valley north of Salamanca, while a proposal to upgrade the Olean Municipal Airport received two votes.
However, any recommendation requires nine votes, a majority of the committee.
Karen Burch, an assistant to the county Legislature's chairman, said a quorum was not present at Monday night's meeting, but the six who did attend were given paper ballots and asked to vote "because they had taken the time to come."
Chairman Bernard Morris is expected to seek advice from the county attorney about how to resolve the questions before the committee.
