LOCKPORT TO MARK DRUG AWARENESS MONTH

A "Red Ribbon Rally" for school children at 1:30 p.m. next Wednesday will be Niagara County's primary observance of national Drug Awareness Month, said Mark G. Cooper, head of Lockport Memorial Hospital's Reflections drug and alcohol treatment center.

The annual rally will last 45 minutes and be held on the Kenan Arena grounds, 195 Beattie Ave.

Cooper said children from all Lockport public and parochial schools will be attending. Those located close enough to the arena will march to the event in the streets, accompanied by city fire trucks.

The rally will include speeches by community leaders and a performance by the Lockport High School Jazz Band.
