MARY E. MILES, RETIRED TEACHER

Mary E. Miles, 77, a retired grade-school teacher at Newfane Central School, died Sunday (Oct. 19, 1997) in her Lockport-Olcott Road home.

A native of Lockport, the former Mary E. Bistoff was a teacher for more than 25 years, retiring in 1976.

A member of Ridgewood Bible Church, she was active with the Newfane Women's Republican Club and was a past committeewoman for the state Republican Party. She had served as president of the Lockport Rebekah Lodge and was a volunteer at Newfane Inter-Community Memorial Hospital. She was a member of the MOMs Club.

Surviving are her husband of 53 years, Wilfred; two sons, John L. of North Carolina and Dana O. of Gasport; a daughter, Mary Beth Newman of Gasport; a granddaughter; and a great-granddaughter.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Rutland-Corwin Funeral Home, 2670 Main St. Burial will be in Cold Spring Cemetery, Lockport.
