A tractor-trailer spilled its load of 33 tons of sand on the shoulder of the Aurora Expressway about 4 p.m. Monday to avoid a vehicle entering the roadway, East Aurora police said.
Trucker Gerald D. Stilson, 59, of Clarence suffered minor injuries -- described by police as cuts and scrapes. He was taken to Mercy Hospital for treatment.
Police said the rig swerved to avoid a vehicle entering the expressway from Olean Road. The northbound tractor-trailer flipped onto its side, spilling the concrete sand onto the shoulder of the expressway.
Cleanup was complete by about 6:30 p.m., police said.
