Garry A. Barber, 82, a truck driver and mechanic, died Saturday (Oct. 18, 1997) in Deaconess Skilled Nursing Facility of Buffalo General Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Barber was born in Buffalo. He was a truck driver for the former Red Arrow Express for 26 years and a Village of Arcade mechanic for five years.
He was a state fire instructor for Wyoming County and a 20-year member of the Arcade Fire Department, as well as a member of the Arcade Benevolent Fireman's Association.
Barber was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. He was a horse-show enthusiast and an avid model railroader.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, the former Dorathy Killian; two sons, Duane of Yorkshire and Douglas of Garrett, Idaho; two daughters, Gayle of Freedom and Karen; a sister, Yvonne Casey of East Aurora; and six grandchil-dren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Tuesday in SS. Peter and Paul Church, 417 W. Main St. Burial will be in Siloam Cemetery, Freedom.
