The East Aurora School Board meeting Tuesday will begin at 7:15 p.m., 45 minutes earlier than usual, to hear special student presentations and to honor a team of high school students who recently won a statewide award for student research using historical records.
The Regents recently honored high school students Benjamin Clauss, Nicholas Coder, Megan Foster, Meredith Long, Lorrie Lux, Lisa Vargovich and Christopher White for a piece of historical fiction that recounts the World War I
experiences of local soldiers.
To prepare it, they combed the records of several historical societies and the records kept by St. Matthias Episcopal Church. Their work won the student research prize during during "Archives Week," a state recognition of the importance of preserving records for future historians.
