The Niagara Frontier Book Collectors will meet Oct. 29 in a print shop that almost triggered an international incident more than 150 years ago.

The club, organized last fall, will meet at 7:30 p.m. in the Mackenzie Heritage Printery Museum in Queenston, Ont., where "MacKenzie Rebellion" leader William Lyon MacKenzie once printed newspapers advocating the overthrow of the Canadian government.

Curator Alison Judd will discuss the printing equipment and its former owner, whose arrest in Buffalo after he led 800 followers in a failed revolution headed off further border friction.

The group has members in both the United States and Canada and tries to stimulate interest in collecting books, maps, autographs, manuscripts, posters and other related material, said Fredonia State College archivist Jack T. Ericson.
