An Ontario Avenue woman was arrested Friday evening after her 4-year-old daughter fell out of her moving car somewhere between Center Court and her home, Detective Patricia McCune said.
Sharon Rivers, 41, of 1804 Ontario was charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, two seat belt violations and driving without a license, Detective McCune said.
Shaneese Sands, Ms. Rivers' daughter, was treated in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center for mouth and lip injuries and scratches on her knees and forehead.
The incident occurred while Ms. Rivers was driving home from Center Court with her two young children, Shaneese and 6-year-old Dezsi, Detective McCune said.
The 4-year-old somehow fell out of the car, and the mother did not realize what had happened until she got close to their home, the detective said.
The woman started backtracking to find the girl and returned to Center Court, where she called police because she was unable to locate her daughter. The girl, however, made it home on her own and went to a neighbors, injured and crying, Detective McCune said.
The incident is under investigation.
