A Buffalo police officer will face an assault charge stemming from a domestic incident in St. Catharines, Ont., Niagara regional police said Saturday.

Milton Jeffries was expected to turn himself in Monday to police in St. Catharines, according to Sgt. Robert Smart of the Niagara regional police.

The charge stems from a woman's allegations that Jeffries, whom she has known for three months, assaulted her at about 5 a.m. Saturday in her home. The woman, who suffered minor cuts on her hand, said Jeffries threw her against a wall.
